Despite its small size, the Nest Cam allows you to monitor your surroundings effectively. The Nest application also enables you to receive alerts when the camera detects any unwanted motion or sound.

Steps for Setting Up the Nest Cam
Step 1: Positioning the Nest Cam
Position the camera based on what you want to monitor. You should place the camera by adjusting the field of view to cover the desired area. The ideal location for the camera may vary.
Consider what is most important for you to monitor. Based on this, find the best location to mount the camera and the optimal vantage point.

If you aim to track something specific, such as a person moving through a certain home area, position it so the area is the focal point on the camera’s screen.

For security monitoring, ensure the camera covers different points of interest on your property or home.
Monitor areas like the driveway, doors, and first-floor windows. Always position the camera at a height where you can see people’s faces, even if they are wearing hooded jackets.

Step 2: Setting Up the Camera
Unbox the Nest camera kit if you haven’t already. Next, connect the cable to the camera using the supplied micro USB cable and the power adapter.
At this step, plug the charging lock into a power source. Ensure each end of the cable is correctly inserted into its designated spot.
Step 3: Downloading the Nest Application
Install the Nest camera application on your smartphone and tap “Next”. Log into your existing Nest account, or sign up if you don’t have one.
Agree to the terms and conditions by selecting “I agree” and tapping “Continue” to proceed with the connection.
Then, select your home’s name and tap on “Next”.
Fill in the requested information to complete the home setup. Continue by tapping “Next”.
Proceed with the home setup according to your preferences.
You can then share the device with other household members for monitoring purposes. After completing these steps, the Nest application setup is finished. You can now start adding your device to monitor the property.
Step 4: Connecting the Application with the Cam
To add the device, open the “Nest” application and tap the “Add” button. Select the required device from the list. You can use your smartphone’s camera to scan the QR code of the device.
Alternatively, locate the QR code on the device and tap “Continue” without scanning.
Enter the six-digit key visible on the device and follow the onscreen instructions by selecting “Next”.
Choose the camera’s location during setup and continue by pressing “Next”.
You will encounter several prompts. Continue pressing “Next” until the Nest camera is set up to record.
Ensure the Nest camera is plugged in and positioned correctly.
The camera will then scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the appropriate one and join it.
The device will attempt to connect, which may take a few minutes. Upon successful connection, you will see an acknowledgment screen.
Now, you have full access to the camera’s view. Press “Done” to complete the setup process.
